UPG
UPG: Unverified Personal Gnosis. Often used in neo-pagan religious discussions to preface or qualify a particular statement on metaphysical reality, this signifies that the information in question is based only on a personal revelation and not on broadly-accepted historical fact or verified documentation. If enough people share the same personal revelation, UPG may evolve over time into VPG (Verified Personal Gnosis), also sometimes known as Community Gnosis.
"My UPG is that Frigga dresses in shades of light blue."

Things to remember -
1) UPG is PERSONAL
2) Other people are not required to verify your UPG
3) If you share your UPG, expect comments from others discussing their own UPG. Expect conflicting gnosis.
4) UPG is UNVERIFIED - people are not required to accept things for which there is no proof beyond your word.
Suggested Rules -
If a conflicting gnosis is introduced, accept that everyone is allowed their own experiences, even when they don't jive with yours. It is possible to accept someone's experience as being valid to them, without accepting the experience as valid for you. No one's personal gnosis is wrong, even if multiple UPG are in conflict. You do not have to accept someone else's UPG, but it's important that we remain courteous when discussing conflicting experiences. No one is required to verify your UPG, and you are not required to verify anyone else's. Do not ridicule someone else's UPG - if you can't be civil, don't comment at all. Remember that, for the most part, this is a public forum, with members with varying ages, spiritual backgrounds, and metaphysical training. Not everyone can do the things that you can do, or experience the world you experience. A significant number of forum members are new to magick and ritual - and likely their first introduction to all this came from the spirit-keeping community. Be patient and kind.
