That happens a lot. I remember Van Halen was the opening act for Black Sabbath
And, IIRC, Godsmack got discovered when Ozzie was out checking out the local bands while he was out on tour

I loved that Kamelot, March of Mephisto.

One of thew few truly great singers I've heard
Up there with Grace Slick, the Wilson sisters, Klaus Meine, and Ronnie James Dio
