Maybe your perception is so hard coded human shaped, that they have it easier to appear like that.

I'm the same way, Apro--it's very difficult for anything to get into my dreams and manipulate them, even when they have express permission and written invitations. I've had a few interesting dreams that were clearly invaded by some Divinity or other, but they're exceedingly rare.

As far as demons and imps appearing human, I know that most of them CAN, depending on the mental preference of their partner, but I always see them in their 'true' form... And some of them are very decidedly inhuman, even beyond the traditional view of semi humanoid demons. It's really interesting how much our own brain and personal wiring affects perceptions of the unseen.
