Lolol why am I not surprised you're an 80's rock fan? It's my era also but I veered towards rap n hip-hop since I lived near NYC or some reason idk.

Brings back fun memories!! Thank you 😊

It's funny my parents were big into what we now call classic rock. CCR, Blue Oyster Cult, etc. I grew up with that and enjoy it some. Also, growing up in the 80s, I love that music, too . . . George Michael, Wham, Duran Duran, etc. BUT because of where we lived, Hip hop, rap, R&B, and Jazz was more my thing. Later, I got into Trance when it came out.

Love this and many others like it:

That song is a fun one!

I was in mid-teens when friends gathered new music from NYC and shared in our little section of CT. The music was always on cassettes lolol, a step above our traditional records. Felt very swashbuckling and was always fun and different. I tuned in to the gritty side and also the fun dance-side!

it was so avant-garde at the time. i remember we'd gather in the bus yard and some kid would have a little sony walkman with speakers. We all loved it and couldn't get enough of it. it was so new and fresh!

i think it was also the gritty and raw side that spoke to me so much!

Here's a fun one

Oh, I don't know...
Maybe the fact that I graduated in 1981 had something to do with it. :headbang:
MTV was brand new, and bands like Boston, AC/DC, REO Speedwagon, Judas Priest, Ted Nugent, Styx, and Def Lepperd were on the radio
I was also heavily into some of the older stuff like Jefferson Airplane, Iron Butterfly, Led Zepplin, Steve Miller, Peter Frampton, Black Sabbath, Kiss, and Deep Purple
It's my era also but I veered towards rap n hip-hop since I lived near NYC or some reason idk.
I lived near...
Well...
Corn fields
That's what we had in northern Iowa.
And Lutefisk
I did have a buddy who was very much into Rap
Brings back fun memories!! Thank you 😊

Of course, no discussion about 80's rock is complete without a mention of Iron Maiden

I give you credit there! My teen years were in a teen-friendly area. With sober dance clubs n stuff. More than one that's 100 miles away lolol....

I do remember that one!
I'm an 85'er so just a little younger as the music rolled out. I listened to a range, like you on the radio & MTV. I've seen Waylon Jennings, Elton John, Ratt & of course Poison, ...and Grateful Dead in concert. Plus lots of small music gatherings ranging from having mosh pits to people kinda just twirling their straws (that was Collectively Speaking, a jazz group lmao). Friends mostly liked concerts. In general they hurt my ears lol...except Elton John. He was just perfect. And entertaining. And really colorful. And played in little Hartford, CT because he's a fan of his fans.

Ok, weirdest concert Ever was in Bristol, CT at Lake Compounce. Very strangely, huge stars materialized on stage there & I went to see Bob Dylan. He literally said Zero words to the audience. He sang and that was that. Not even an utterance. I don't remember him even clearing throat. It was so weird I couldn't focus on anything else & left wondering.
